    FREQUENTLY ASKED

    Before your visit

What types of massages do you offer at The Flexarium?
We offer various massages to suit your needs.

Sports massage is suitable for anyone and everyone who wants to improve mobility and quality of movement, decrease chronic pain, optimise physical performance, or prevent injury - from professional athlete to professional desk-sitter-with-back-pain. Focussed, remedial techniques are used that take time and communication - this is not a full body relaxation treatment. Sessions should be regular to optimise effectiveness - to start out we usually recommend anywhere between twice a week and once every 2 weeks, slowly decreasing in frequency as we address your concerns until we find a rhythm that your body loves for maintenance.

Swedish massage is what you think of when you think of a spa massage. While regular treatment (monthly or so) is wonderful for optimising health through boosting circulation & lymphatic flow and decreasing stress, once-off drop in sessions are a lovely treat too! Soothing, predictable strokes are used, ranging in pressure depending on your preferences.

We also can offer reflexology, manual lymphatic drainage, Balinese scalp massage, and intuitive floor massage, although we do not have these advertised or open to public online booking currently. You are welcome to reach out to enquire more.
Do I need to book an appointment in advance?
Yes, we don't offer walk ins. It's recommended to book in advance to ensure your preferred time and service availability, as we limit our working hours to preserve our hands & energy, so that we can keep giving you our all each session! You can easily check availability and schedule your visit through our booking system.
What should I wear for my massage session?
We work with full towel coverage in all our treatments, so besides undies staying on, what you wear and the level you undress to is completely up to you - we can work around your comfort levels. :)  The more skin is exposed the more we can do oil-work, but we can also work over clothes with friction based techniques where needed.
Are there any amenities available during my visit?
We have a small bathroom available, but no shower.

We only have tap water available, so if you would prefer bottled or filtered, please bring your own. :) It is important to stay hydrated in session!

    Street parking is available.
How can I prepare for my first visit to The Flexarium?
Hydrate well, nourish, and clean yourself before your session. Complete our online intake form and send proof of payment the evening before. Take some time leading up to your session to take note of what's happening in your body so that we can consider this in our treatment plan. Communicate any preferences to us so we can tailor the experience to you.  Practising mindfulness and breathing may make also the session more enjoyable.
